No offense, but if your verdict is "not the best social skills" based on his pre- gdc panel action, you're either comment fishing, or you might need to recalibrate your understanding of people. Getting hate for making a living is crazy. I understand people get mad that he profits off helping misfortunate people, but like the fact that he is helping them in general should be enough. Apologizing right after being a jackass does not stop you from being a jackass, not doing anything illegal does not stop you from being a jackass, and yeah there are people worse than Phil Fish... going to be honest I dislike how you try to defend Phil's statement against Japanese games at the end, I already left a comment about how bad that comment was but I don't think Makoto Goto thanking him makes it even close to OK, that's a polite way of saying "fuck you, I'm doing better than you as a game dev right now". and "motivating other japanese developers" lol. I doubt any of the really notable people at Square/Capcom/Nintendo/Fromsoft cared at all about Phil Fish saying anything about them. He would be small potatoes to them.
